four novels and a bonus short story
The Maine Quartet
These four romance novels, originally
published between 1989 and 1997, have been newly edited by the author and are
now collected for the first time in this omnibus edition.
In Cloud Castles, originally
published under the pseudonym Kaitlyn Gorton, fate brings an optimistic Kendra
Jennings and a cynical Alex Moreau together on a lonely country road in 1989. A
Deputy Sheriff, Alex thinks Kendra is keeping secrets and he's right, but she's
telling the truth about the peculiar things that have happened to her since she
moved into a house deep in the Maine woods. When her life, and that of Alex's
teenaged son, are threatened, he has more than his duty to do. Romantic
Times wrote that "both plot and characterization keep us nicely
entertained."
In Love Thy Neighbor, Linnea Bryan returns to Maine
to discover her roots and encounters the unexpected in her next-door neighbor,
Marsh Austin, a retired cop who now raises and races sled dogs. When she decides
to stay in Austin's Crossing to renovate her grandfather's house, Marsh is suspicious
of her motives but very attracted to her. Romantic Times called this one
"A rollicking good read!"
In The Rapunzel Trap, formerly
published as Hearth, Home and Hope under the pseudonym Kaitlyn
Gorton, Hope Rowan suspects fairy tale character Rapunzel had agoraphobia, just
as she does. Is Cooper Sanford, former high school bad boy, the handsome prince
who can rescue her from her tower? To persuade Hope to help him with his motherless
daughter, he's willing to give it a try, but he may be asking too much in return.
Rendezvous called it "fast paced with funny, interesting characters—people
you can care about."
In Family Lies, formerly
published as Separated Sisters under the pseudonym Kaitlyn
Gorton, Ariadne Palmer, part owner of an antiquarian bookshop in Maine, doesn't
believe Clay Franklin when he tells her she has a twin sister and grandparents
she never knew about. As a lawyer, Clay has sworn not to tell her the whole truth
about her family, but his immediate and growing attraction to her argues against
keeping that promise. Romantic Times called it "A warmhearted tale .
. . with many touching moments."
As a bonus, this collection also
includes a short story, "The Boston Post Cane."

two novels and three short stories
Love
and Murder in the Time of the Tudors: Two Novels of Romantic Suspense set in
sixteenth-century England
Unquiet
Hearts was
first published in 1994 for the Harper Monogram line. It is 1562 and Thomasine
Strangeways has returned to Catsholme Manor in Lancashire to fulfill her mother's deathbed request. She
expects to encounter her old friend and protector Nick Carrier, but the
presence of witchcraft and murder come as an unpleasant surprise. The
gatherings of women in the nearby wood are pretty innocent . . . until a man
gets involved. The reviewer in Rendezvous wrote "Plan on
some real excitement as you read this unique tale."
The Green Rose was first published in 1994 by Harper Monogram and is set in 16th century England. It is a tale of love, spies, murder, the theater, and a betrothal of convenience. Meriall Sentlow, an impoverished young widow, enters the service of a distant relative, Lady Dixfield, after her neighbor, Sir Grey Neville, refuses to help her, but their paths are destined to cross again, and he's anything but cold toward her when next they meet. Romantic Times called it "an engaging tale of suspense and passion."
Also
included are three short stories set in sixteenth-century England, "The
Blessing Witch," "The Cunning Woman," and "Mistress
Threadneedle's Quest. "

Three Novels in One Ebook
The Nostalgia Trilogy
The three novels in this omnibus edition were first published as category romances in the 1990s. Collected here for the first time, they provide a glimpse into the not too distant past, when cell phones and personal computers were just beginning to be available and the proliferation of ebooks, streaming, and podcasts was still in the future.
In Sleepwalking Beauty, Duncan Glendower is assigned to keep Andrea Lauderdale safe by her over-protective grandfather. The safest place he can think of is a remote hunting cabin in Maine, but once they arrive there he faces a new danger. Despite the fact that they're from two different worlds, he's rapidly falling for the woman he's been hired to protect. The review of this one in Affaire de Coeur said "Emerson has a talent for anticipation and passion."
Echoes and Illusions is a contemporary romance, but it also contains scenes set in the past. After Lauren Ryder, a young woman living in Maine in 1993, recognizes her own face in a 450 year old painting, she's plagued by nightmares in which she encounters persecution and murder in Tudor England. This is especially troubling because she can't remember anything about the first eighteen years of her life in the twentieth century. Her husband Adam, a skeptic by nature and a law-enforcement consultant by profession, determined to discover where Lauren came from and what happened in her past, has to make a leap of faith in order to preserve their marriage. The Talisman called this book "the perfect blend of mystery, suspense, and the paranormal."
Tried and True also touches on the past, since its setting is a living history center. When Grant Bradley convinces talk-show host Vanessa Dare to spend a week in the year 1888, in costume, to film a feature on "Westbrook Farm," she has no idea that she’ll soon be neck deep in both love and danger.

Three Novels in One Ebook
The Waycross Springs Trilogy
The three novels in this omnibus edition were all previously published as category romances by Bantam Loveswept and all three include characters who later appear in the author's Liss MacCrimmon Mysteries (written as Kaitlyn Dunnett). They are set, entirely or in part, in the small, rural town of Waycross Springs, Maine.
In Relative Strangers, in 1997, Corrie Ballantyne decides to spend Christmas at the Sinclair House rather than with her family. Soon after she arrives, she begins to see a woman dressed in nineteenth-century clothing. She slowly comes to realize that it must be the ghost of Adrienne Sinclair, Lucas Sinclair's ancestor, and that Adrienne is intent on playing matchmaker. Romantic Times called this book "Top of the line reading for romance fans!" For mystery buffs, it also contains both past and present day mysteries in the subplot.
The
E-Mail Order Bride was
originally published under
the title Sight Unseen. The story is set in 1998, when Maine
probation officer Chase Forster, who wants to create a home for his niece and
nephew, yields to the impulse to ask Leslie Baynton, a woman he's only met
online, to become his e-mail order bride. Leslie has doubts, but she's already
half in love with a man she's never seen.
That Special Smile is also set in 1998 and opens when widower Russ Tandy, owner of a music and gift shop, recruits Tory Grenville to help his teenaged daughter prepare for a beauty pageant. In high school, Tory was a "brain" and Russ the BMOC, but now they're on equal footing. Romantic Times called this story "appealing."

Another tale of the mid-16th century, this was written as a mystery with a
romance and published the other way around. Fans of the FACE DOWN SERIES will
see hints of Susanna Appleton in Cordell Shelby but Roger Allingham is much
nicer than Sir Robert.
For a completely rewritten version of this book, as a mystery novel
rather than a romance, you might like to try Death of an Intelligence
Gatherer.
In 1553, scores of English Protestants fled into exile on
the Continent after Mary Tudor took the throne and returned England to
Catholicism. Sir Henry Ingram and his daughter Cordell were among them, but Sir
Henry is not all he seems. When he dies in Strasbourg, Cordell's life is turned
upside down. Certain he was poisoned, and that his murder had something to do
with the intelligence he was gathering about a plot to overthrow the queen, she
is determined not only to complete his mission but also to bring his killer to
justice. There is only one problem—as a young woman on her own she does
not dare trust anyone, not even old friends. Her journey home is fraught with
peril, and once she is back in England, nothing is as she expected it to be.
